**           Changes you must make to your Email Client [like Outlook Express or Entourage or MAC Mail]  settings  so it will work  with the new server.   Open your email program and get into the account settings area [on a PC it is usually under the Tools Menu] and change the incoming and outgoing servers to:

incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.com    [write in your actual domain name]

outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomain.com  [write in your actual domain name]

NOTE: If you currently use your ISP’s outgoing mail server you can leave this setting alone or use your own outgoing mail server –your call

Your user name is: your entire email address, the password will be the same as before.

The click on More or Advanced settings [every program is different, I can help the PC folks but the MAC folks may need to dig around to find where to change this info:

"My server requires authentication" & "log on using same as my incoming mail server"

and advanced settings Outgoing port # should be changed from port 25 to port 26  NOTE: If you currently use your ISP’s outgoing mail server you can leave this setting alone or use your own outgoing mail server –your call

Changes you will have to make to your email client
Accessing webmail at the old server
Accessing your new control panel

WEBMAIL [after the move is complete]:

In a browser [Firefox or Safari or whatever] go to your domain/webmail
user name is the full email address
password, only you know.

You have a choice of 3 different webmail readers, they all go to the same mailbox and show everything that is there. Personally I like SquirrelMail, it is light and fast... It's your choice... Try them all...

For 95% of you this move will go very easily.  PLEASE, if you are feeling overwhelmed by this message, call me so I can explain what you don’t understand, don’t wait until after the move and call in a panic, no matter how much I prepare and try and prepare you for this move there are bound to be some minor snafus, I want to be available and it is a lot easier to deal with stuff beforehand than afterwards.

If you feel for some reason you absolutely can’t make the move next weekend PLEASE contact me as soon as possible so we can try and make other arrangements beforehand. This is more or less an ALL-OR-NOTHING move. In other words, if you don’t make other arrangements with me beforehand your domain will be moved!

**           This transfer to the new server will require you to make a few changes on your end so you don’t miss any email during the move. Firstly, before next Friday 6/26], I encourage you to log into your control panel at the old server [xyz.com/menu] and take note of your IP address [you will find this in the upper right of the screen under Account at a Glance]. During and for up to one month after the move itself, you will be able to access your old email off the old server via IP address by going to http://your IP#/webmail  [substitute your actual IP address which will look something like 216.147.121.71 ] Note: To access webmail on the new server after the transition you type your domain name/webmail like you do now at the old server.
